Overheard at the Howling Hog
The pawnbroker's offering three silver to anyone who'll carry a tied sack, a padlocked chest and a thick old book up to the abbey, no questions. The chest rattles when nobody's touched it. Two couriers have already brought the lot back halfway. One won't say why. The other won't say anything at all.
Use it as
- Loot to scatter in a hoard or a thieves' den
- Small props to glue into a mini's hands or onto a pack
- A quest item: a delivery that keeps finding its way back
DM tip
Scatter all three around a dungeon map as treasure markers. Only one holds the real prize, and the other two can be trapped.
