Overheard at the Howling Hog

The first snow came early, and it came down the pass with him: a giant wearing a whole wolf for a hood, horns curling out beneath it. The ice-cutters say he stopped at the tarn and hasn't moved since. They'd like someone to ask what he's waiting for before it freezes over.

Use it as

  • A frost giant barbarian PC who brings the winter along
  • A silent omen the village begs the party to move along
  • A winter warlord leading wolves down out of the mountains

DM tip

Each round he's in the fight, mark one more square around his base as deep snow. The battlefield shrinks until the party has to finish it or run.
