Overheard at the Howling Hog
Handed in this morning: one lost satchel, and its owner still hanging on to the strap. The sporeling says it carries letters for the mushroom folk out past the wood, and it's been lost for three days. It won't open the bag. It'll pay a guide in acorns, and it'd like to leave tonight.
Use it as
- A sporeling PC who keeps the party's maps, notes and snacks
- A lost courier the party has to walk home
- A messenger who turns up at the worst possible moment with sealed orders
DM tip
Write three possible letters on cards and let a player draw one when the satchel finally opens. Keep the other two for later sessions.
