Overheard at the Howling Hog
Planted a seed in the window box, says the gardener, and the seed climbed right back out. Now it chases her round the yard with a stick longer than itself. The mushroom folk say it's one of theirs, only cross about being buried. They'd like it home before it sprouts.
Use it as
- A seedling familiar for a druid or ranger PC
- A lost mushroom folk companion the party has to escort home
- One of a swarm of cross seeds guarding a garden
DM tip
Put it on the map as a seed and say nothing. On round three it stands up, stick raised, and goes for whoever's nearest.
