Axes stay on the shoulders indoors. That's the deal we struck with the little goblin, after he tried splitting kindling by the hearth and split the hearthstone instead. He's kept his word, mostly by never putting them down, even to eat. Hire him as a woodcutter, but keep him away from masonry.

DM tip

Let him attack twice but never sheathe. Whenever he squeezes through a tight door or tunnel, he needs a Dexterity check or the axes snag.
